back to the blue light...

The last half of yesterday was crazy, so it was nice to get to the Blue Light last night. Much to our disappointment, Charlie wasn't there, but it was good to get out of the house for awhile.

Tomorrow night, MMC is in town. Thursday night they're in Odessa and Friday in Amarillo. I don't know if I can pull off all three shows, but I'll try. The only one in question is the show in Odessa. I don't know if a hearing is a go on Friday morning. If not, I'll be there.

They seem to be tearing up the courtyard on Texas Avenue. I have no idea what they are doing. There are things scheduled for next weekend...I wonder where Strootapalooza will be now? I was looking forward to it.

I was reading College Humor last night and they had an item titled Mild Party T-Shirts. Hilarious...maybe I should own one of them.

this month is flying by...

I have been pretty busy at work since returning from Idaho. With any luck, I'm finally cutting ties with a certain case tomorrow. You have no idea how glad I'll be when this comes to pass.

Here's the link to my photos if you haven't seen them yet. The photos just don't do justice to the scenery. The weekend was all you could want and more. Making it to town in time for the street dance added Jell-O shots to the weekend. Maybe next year they'll be better prepared. I didn't think on the flight out I'd find myself drinking out of a community jug, sitting alongside the Salmon River, or dreading the trip home just as much as last year. I don't know anyone who can't wait to get back.

I got talked into going to Ft Worth for Red Dirt Roundup, and now I am looking forward to it. I won't be showing up there until Saturday, though. I'm going to see MMC that Friday. I know they're playing on Sunday, but a shortened set's not the same. Bonus, RRB is playing in Lewisville Saturday night.

In WHY!? news...my portable hard drive seems to have been partially erased. FANTASTIC! I still have quite a bit on there, but I'm missing a good chunk of my music files. I'm going to have to download something to retrieve my music from the ipod, I guess.

short week

Yesterday was a bit of a hectic end to my trip to Houston. I just made the gate in time for the flight before boarding. Then, the rain started. We sat on the runway for at least 45 mins. I fell asleep at some point and woke when we started the descent into Austin. There was another minor delay, and I got home about an hour later than planned.

The weekend was good. It's always great to see Heather, and her new place is awesome. We hit the Armadillo Palace for Mancy and the Firehouse to see Keith Davis. Saturday, we were ambitious and made it to a matinée showing of The Bourne Ultimatum before Meg's shower. The movie was great, probably my favorite of all three. The shaky camera work got to me at some points, however. I found it hard to see what was actually happening due to the movement. This could have been due to the fact that we ended up in the 2nd row though. Overall, it was a great action movie.

The movie ran a little longer than we thought, so we were late to the shower. It was great seeing everyone that I usually get to see only once or twice a year. Allison served these lil' smokies that I'm sure could become as addictive as any controlled substance. Meg looked fantastic and seemed to feel everything given to baby Addison. I was ready for a power nap following the shower before heading to the Firehouse to see Wade.

Back at the office, I'm still viewing/listening to surveillance. I hope to end up summarizing everything tomorrow and be done with it. It's looking to be a slow two days until I'll finally be heading to Idaho.

no end in sight...

I found myself in the midst of preparation for a criminal trial today. I try to avoid these at all costs. I don't mind writing the pre-trial motions, briefs supporting said motions or appellate briefs in these cases.

I've spent the better part of the day listening to/looking at surveillance in this case. It just goes on and on and on... I bet I still have at least twelve hours ahead of me. I decided to take a break, and my ears thank me.

So, what do I end up doing? I'm watching Glenn Close's new legal show Damages. I can't escape thoughts of work and the civil cases that got pushed aside for prep in this case. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night, because I have a very light Friday scheduled.

(show's good, by the way)
