NOOOOOOOOO!!!

I just read the most disturbing thing regarding my beloved, Entourage. A website is claiming that the loathsome, Kevin Federline is going to be on 3 episodes next season. Unacceptable. I just pray it never happens.

On a completely different note, I was literally in tears today from laughing so much. I was reading one of my favorite myspace blogger's latest entry. If you're not a subscriber to Kevin's "Freaking" Aussie's blog, you're missing out on some laughs. I also usually end up reading the comments, which can be as funny as the blog itself.

the worst part of the job...

Taking a kid to speak with a judge in their chambers about his/her living arrangement...translation: do you want to live w/mom or dad?

I can't imagine how hard that is for a child. The general concerns of every kid I've ever had to deal with in such matters are always the same. Will my mom and dad be in the room? What's he going to ask me? Do I have to go on the stand? Who else is going to be in the room? Will they tell my mom/dad what I said?

Ugh, the best thing I can tell them is to just tell the truth. Easy for me to say, I don't have to ride home or visit an upset parent, should the judge not rule in their favor.

It's times like these when I really wish the parties involved would get over themselves and see what they are doing to their kids.

I'm currently watching Agassi play Pavel on the first night of the U.S. Open. Part of me wants Agassi to pull out the win, but it's not looking great for him right now, down 4-1 in the 3rd set (they split the first two sets). And in that short time, Agassi is now at 5-4 in the 3rd..pretty impressive.

Don't know if anyone else watched Entourage last night...but with the exception of the episode following their trip to the Valley, the finale was my favorite. Vince vs. Ari: Would Vince go for the kill or would he forgive and forget?

I thought it was excellent...and cannot wait for next season.

Jessica just informed me that MMC will be in Lubbock next week...woo-hoo!!! I guess I didn't HAVE to go see them in Dallas last weekend after all...but I'm not complaining.

sunday side of a road-trip...

I got home about an hour ago, following a somewhat impromptu road-trip to Dallas. Friday night, I 'met' Cori and Chanda in the parking lot of Adair's and we set off to the piercing/tattoo parlor. Fun way to start the evening...well, at least different.

After a bite to eat at Sol's, we headed for Suede to see the Motorcars. The show was alot of fun, despite the lack of breeze up on the rooftop. Towards the end, there was a bit of a melee out in front of the stage. I'm pretty sure that's the first fight I've ever seen at a Motorcars show. I guess there's a first time for everything. The setlist was fantastic...the new song, "Amber," I expect will become a favorite.

I had a fabulous time with Heather, Sara, Cori, Jake, Dawn, Deidre, Romeo, Chanda, and Rocky. Dawn was very entertaining, she kept me laughing the latter part of the night. We ended up at Adair's (of course) and met some of the WTX people in town for the weekend. I was a bit of a party pooper and went to bed around 315 or so...everyone else fought sleep til about 5 that morning...good for them. I was drained.

After a late start Heather, Jake and I had a late lunch at Alfredo's...yum. Then, Heather and I headed out to see Little Miss Sunshine. I loved the movie. For me, the brooding, Nietzsche-obsessed, teenage boy made the movie.

Favorite memories of the weekend (I should probably say funniest for the first):
  • Flying loaf of bread hitting Chanda square in the face at Adair's...sorry, but it was hilarious
  • Finding RRB bulletins posted on a good portion of a wall in Deep Ellum promoting the new cd

Lowlight:
  • Watching the first two episodes of Laguna Beach, thus securing my fate, having to watch the remainder of the season...

Telephone rings, who could it be?

Muthafuckin' Samuel L. Jackson...that's who! HAHAHA

I'm sitting at my desk yesterday afternoon, and see that my friend Jeanne is calling on the cell. I pick it up, expecting a funny story. Instead, I hear Samuel L. Jackson on the other end of the line telling me to go watch his new m-fing movie. It told me to stop messing around and watch the movie with snakes on the f'ing plane. He also ordered me to take my friend, Jeanne, with me to watch his new f'ing movie.

Here's the site where you can find it to harrass someone w/a late night call from Mr. Jackson:

I'm pretty sure I'm going to hell, but...

This website has made me laugh this morning. I just wonder where the inspiration came from to start the blog in the first place...what am I saying? It was obviously divine intervention.

Some sanity...

A federal judge ruled today that the government's warrantless wiretapping program is unconstitutional and ordered an immediate halt to it.

I was always very wary of the huge umbrella that has been established to justify all things in the name of national security.

I'm sure the decision will be appealed and find its way to the Supreme Court. For me, it always comes back to 9/11...I was sitting in my civil rights class and Professor Coyne asked this question that still haunts me: At what point do we stop giving up our rights for security's sake? We all knew there were changes afoot, but I don't think I could have imagined some of the steps that have been taken since.

Questions have been cropping up lately in my head, with the 5th anniversary of 9/11 quickly approaching and the most recent terror alert.

I think the Court's decision was a step in the right direction...whether the ruling will stand, remains to be seen.

cleaning out the memories...

I was removing images from my memory card for the big trip and ran across these pics. They are from my sister, Monica's, graduation. They made me smile...

I'm all packed and ready to go. I stuffed two towels into my backpack...just in case. I have my SPF 50 and misty-mate. I'm such a sissy when it comes to spending time out in the sun. One hooded sweatshirt and zip-up hoodie...I hope that will suffice. Bring on Idaho.

closing time...

I still don't know how to get home early. I stayed out in the depot district last night past closing time and regretted it this morning. I doubt I'll do anything productive this weekend. Bleu Edmondson is in town, yeah...I'm pretty sure I'm out on that one.

Last night, Randy and Wade put on a fantastic show. I'm sure it was one in, one out around 9:30 or so. Who the hell is leaving this show?! Being the nerd that I am, I showed up to the BL at 7:30. I decided to have a jumbo daiquiri out on the porch (this had nothing to do w/the proximity to the BL's front door). I have no idea why I felt the need to show up when I was told I'd get in no matter what...but I find it hard to deal with uncertainty.

They could have sung anything last night, so long as I heard One Thing I Know, I was leaving a happy camper. It was Randy's second song and I loved it! Wade played TONS of old stuff, he said being back home at the BL just brought it out in him.

Jessica and I ended up at the Irish Pub after the show w/DTM, Randy, Wade, and Ricky. The bartender was kind enough to let us stay a little past closing. Randy was saying that he won't have a day off until August 17th. I know they have 'jobs' a lot of people envy. I am not one of those people. The wear and tear of sleeping on the bus or a different hotel room every night does not sound like fun to me. Randy had a radio interview at 9 this morning in Lufkin. I wonder how that went. He definitely looked a little road weary.

Tally in Randy's head: Wade 3, Randy 1 (he says Wade's kicked his ass on most of the acoustic shows so far, but he's storming his ass next week, lol).

I think this weekend I'm catching up on Entourage, watching some DVDs and crying about my OU Sooners and what could have been this season :'(
